Agriworks Mobile Irrigation Systems (AMIS) are mobile, modular systems capable of irrigating 1 – 6 acres of land. The system can be shared by more than one farmer, and customers can spread the cost while still being able to irrigate commercial-sized plots. Two base systems and three different AMIS attachments are offered to meet specific smallholder needs. There are three basic systems: AMIS-Foundation, AMIS-extra and AMIS-50. Each system can be combined with either of these three components: the AMIS-MVUA KALI (rain gun), AMIS-DRIP (drip irrigation kit), and AMIS-IMPACT (sprinklers). The systems are designed to ride on the back of a motorcycle or cart and can deliver water up to 200 meters+ from a water source.

Design Specifications

The AMIS-Foundation is a frame mounted to a motorcycle which contains a gasoline pump, 160 meters of pipe, pipe fittings, sprinkler heads, a tripod, and a toolbox. Other attachments include a rain gun sprinkler, impact sprinklers, and a drip kit. The rain gun sprikler uses a booster pump and can irrigate up to six acres. The impact sprinklers use rapid-connect pipes and four low-pressure sprinklers to irrigate up to four acres. The drip kit can be installed into a 1/8 acre to one acre field.

Manufacturer Specified Performance Parameters

The manufacturer specifies that their system can increase the acreage a farmer can irrigate while costing less than traditional irrigation systems. The manufacturer also specifies that their system is customizable and easy to use.

Vetted Performance Status

Testing performed by the manufacturer found that their system doubled farmers' irrigated area, increased the value of their yearly production three-fold, and had twice as many harvesting weeks, however, no third-party testing has been completed.

Complementary Technical Systems

The additional components include the AMIS Mvua-Kali, the AMIS Impact, and AMIS Drip. The AMIS Mvua-Kali is a rain gun attachment for up to 6 acres. AMIS Impact is a smaller sprinkler for uneven and odd shaped plots. Lastly, the AMIS Drip is a drip irrigation set for highly efficient irrigation.
