The MSF Steam Sterilizer is a prototype that uses steam to sterilize surgical equipment quickly, effectively, and with lower water usage for settings with reliable access to electricity and water.

The programme is very small (only 160 units), but these are part of a larger programme with a range of biogas plant sizes (total of 3000 units installed). The digester is fabricated, so it forms the right shape when inflated by slurry and biogas.
The correct way of usage seems incredibly critical for this product. What are the ways and means to train end-users for this product? Even though the end-users are deemed to be nurses, but in NICUs in low-resource settings you also have mothers and grandmothers that are there to care for their children. So, knowing your user-type for this product is critical.
There is a need for rigorous validation for vital sign evaluation of this product. Given that the product aims to tackle several vital signs, it needs to be carefully tested and validated. A challenge is the placement of the product on baby hats. Where and how to place, by appropriate users, must be considered.
Also, given the product’s testing organization is in Uganda, have you considered connecting with electrical engineering department at local Uganda universities (specifically at Makerere university)?
