Product Description

Designed by Biodôme and distributed in Morocco, composters and biodigesters are two separate units that convert organic waste into both biogas and organic fertilizer for lands and crops. The biogas can be used for general energy purposes and it can also power motors from water pumps, especially suitable for rural farmers. As waste can be managed on site, this system helps reducing organic domestic waste that represent the 70% of the trash while decreasing storage loads and the need to destroy waste.

Bidôme has improved the first system design with a new one that features an application to verify the composting process in real time.

Design Specifications

Biodigesters are buried installations made of concrete. The design is composed of 4 parts: (1) the feeding pond, (2) the digestion tank, (3) the compensation pool and (4) the digestor recovery pond. The system is designed with a slope so that the material can flow to the compensation pool. The produced biogas has a so-called digestat material and it is recovered in the pond. The biogas scapes from the top of the digestion tank and it is directed by the pipes to the desired uses (cogeneration, heating, combustion, etc). Composters are rotating drums designed to mix and aerate food residues. Further specifications are unknown.

Manufacturer Specified Performance Parameters

Biodôme's target is to have a field-tested prototype: a fully systematized prototype representative of the industrial design that has been tested in a relevant environment with target customers/end users so as to validate the design and develop another dimension of composter with a new design. For August 2018, Biodôme is finalizing the industrial design within the month and moving into the pre-production in three months. Interview with the representative

Safety

For biodigester potential hazards are minimum. Biodôme Maroc puts alarms and detectors to monitor gas leaks and assure safety; For composters, there are potential hazards related to electrocution and rotation of the drum. To avoid it, Biodôme Maroc has put doors covering all the drum, an alarm and electrical boxes are well isolated. Interview with representative
