Luci Original is an inflatable solar light. The lamps is bright, compact, and portable for any situation. It weighs 125 g and its dimensions when inflated are 12.7 cm D x 10.8 cm H.

Luci Original is distributed by MPOWERD. MPOWERD distributes lights in two different ways. It sells them to people who use them, both in developed and developing countries. And it sells them to charity-minded backers as gifts to pass around in impoverished communities, especially in disaster zones such as the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan.

The lamp can be obtained through MPOWERD online shop, on Amazon and other online shops, such as REI. The Give Luci program makes it possible to buy a lamp for 9.95USD and nonprofit partners will send it directly to someone living without access to electricity.

The exact number of distribution to date of the LUCI Original lamp is unknown, however, more than 2.6 million lives have been impacted by MPOWERD solar products.

Design Specifications

Design specifications include the solar lamp, an integrated Lithium-Ion Battery (1000 mAh) within a battery level indicator, 10 cool white LEDs with 4 brightness-settings: low (up to 15 lumens); medium (up to 35 lumens); high (up to 75 lumens) ; 1 sec flashing. The body of the lamp is splash, water, dust resistant and submersible up to 1m. Further specifications here.

Lifecycle

MPOWERD provides a 1-year warranty. If the entire battery is fully charged and then used up every day, one lamp will give about 3 years of use. For the more occasional user, a Luci light can last up to 7 years. The LEDs will last for the entire life of the Luci.

Manufacturer Specified Performance Parameters

Performance targets: - Charge in 7 hours in direct sunlight. - Lasts up to 12 hours on a bright setting. - Waterproof: IP67 rating. - Operating temp: 15°F – 122°F (-10°C – 50°C). - A Luci light will retain 95% of its charge for each month it's in storage.

Vetted Performance Status

The low brightness setting (15 lumens) lasts over 24 hours, the medium (with 35 lumens) lasts over 12 hours and the high setting (with up to 75 lumens) lasts 6 hours. It lasts up to 24 hours on a full charge and it fully charges after 7 hours in direct sunlight. It is splash, water, dust resistant and submersible up to 1 m.
